BRINTEX LAUNCHES WEBSITE

Brintex, organiser of the LIWSF, has launched a new web-based information service for the wine trade, called Wine Trade Index. The service was launched on 14 February and will be rolled out to users in stages over the next few months. Wine Trade Index (WTI) is a new research tool that pulls together statistical data for 31 countries over the past five years, including figures on production, consumption, distribution, import, export and re-export. The research has been compiled and processed by the international wine research agency WISE (Wine & Spirits Intelligence Services), who drew on government statistics, trade agencies and private research. Brintex paid for the data and designed the site,' Andrew Evans, commercial director of Brintex, told Harpers, so for people who have free access, it's a win-win situation. We see it as a way of giving something back to the industry.' The service is free to LIWSF exhibitors, 980 Club Elite members and selected journalists. For all other users, an annual subscription fee of 150 will apply. We will screen people who want to use it,' said Evans, and, if accepted, they will be given a password and a user name.' Brintex will also commission market studies over the course of the year and these will be available on the website. The WTI can be accessed via the LIWSF site at www.londonwinefair.com/wti
