Nickolls & Perks invests in new software to double online sales

Published:  28 March, 2017

Independent wine and spirit merchant Nickolls & Perks has invested in new wine specific software as part of a strategy to double its online sales in the next two years.

The state-of-the-art cloud based solution - WineSuite - is expected to be fully installed by September this year across the entire business.

The merchant said, with 25% of its business currently coming via its online shop and Amazon, it saw "massive growth potential".

"By having a single technology platform for all parts of the business, growth will be simple to manage, there will be less business risk and the customer experience will be 'best in class' - something we haven't had via our current 'separate' ecommerce systems and on-premise servers," said MD Will Gardener, adding Nickolls & Perks expected online sales to double in the next two years on the back of the update.

Integration with Amazon marketplaces would increase online sales further - up to 20% by September 2019, he added.

The new site would be easier to navigate, more interactive and "highly responsive", especially form tablets and smart phones, in turn encouraging repeat custom and boosting sales, said Gardener.

Although Nickolls & Perks was principally focused on growing its online retail channel, Gardener said it expected WineSuite to also increase trade sales, which currently account for 40% of the business, by 10% in the first couple of years.

"Trade clients will be able to clearly see historic purchases and have up-to-date pricing, availability and location information at a click of a button, streamlining the whole buying process."

Specifically developed to make operating within the wine trade as hassle-free as possible, WineSuite comes with pre-configured wine industry features and is powered by NetSuite.
