UK pub chain JD Wetherspoon has reported a fall in sales over the Christmas and new year period.
Like-for-like sales were down 3.2% in the 11 weeks to January 13 with a reported drop in demand for premium lager and spirits.
A company statement read: "We continue to remain cautious regarding the outlook for this financial year."
Wetherspoon will now slow the rate of new pub openings - 25 outlets will open in the financial year to the end of July which is less than the firm initially signaled.
The company owns 683 pubs across the UK.
