Berry Bros. & Rudd have announced that across their business they have reduced emissions by 15%, as well as a number of other environmental milestones. The progress was detailed in their 2023/24 Impact Report, outlining the steps the merchant has been taking to bolster sustainability.
Beyond the headline figure, impressive progress has been made including 100% of the company’s energy used being certified renewable, a 160% in solar energy generation over the past two years and 40% of Berry Bros. & Rudd delivery vehicles now being electric.
Despite the progress, Berry Bros. & Rudd chair, Lizzy Rudd, appreciates they are achievements within a much larger sustainability journey: “We acknowledge that there is much more to be done, and we remain committed to transparency in our journey towards creating a sustainable business that puts back more than it takes. Resilience and adaptability have always been at the core of our business, as has our focus on responsible stewardship for future generations.”
Improvement to sustainability of the day-to-day operations have been undertaken alongside supporting global-facing endeavours. This includes supporting a climate project that hopes to remove 300 tonnes of emissions, involving the funding of tree planting in the UK as well as renewable energy in the Ovalle municipality of Chile.
