Jefford and Atkin honoured

Tim Atkin MW and Andrew Jefford were both named as Wine Writer of the Year last week, with Atkin winning at the Glenfiddich Awards and Jefford at the Louis Roederer Awards.

Former Harpers editor Atkin - who picked up the Glenfiddich Award for the fifth time - won for his work in Observer Food Monthly and World of Fine Wine.

Jefford won for work in the Financial Times, Waitrose Food Illustrated and Decanter.

The Drink Book Award at the Glenfiddich Awards went to Harpers contributor Jamie Goode for Wine Science, with the corresponding award at the Roederer Awards going to Wines of the Northern Rhne by John Livingstone-Learmouth.

The Glenfiddich Bar/Drink Writer of the Year award went to Dave Broom for work in Whisky Magazine.

The Louis Roederer Champagne Writer of the Year went to Tom Stevenson for work in a variety of publications, including Harpers.

Also at the Roederer Awards, Christine Austin won Regional Wine Writer of the Year for work in The Yorkshire Post.

Wine behind the Label, by Phillip Williamson and David Moore, won the Ott Annual Wine Guide Award.
