FMV bolsters Champagne menu with Leclerc Briant

Published:  10 September, 2018

Fields, Morris & Verdin (FMV) has expanded its Champagne portfolio with the addition of Leclerc Briant.

The addition of the family-owned producer, which is focused on organic viticulture and has been biodynamically certified since the 1980s, follows a lease of new life being injected into the winery via vineyard acquisition, renovated facilities and a “new style of wine”.

With there never having been “a better time to be a Champagne drinker”, now was the perfect time to introduce the wines of Leclerc Briant to FMV’s Champagne portfolio, said Davy Zyw, Champagne buyer at FMV – the in-house UK trade arm of Berry Bros & Rudd.

"The wines of the region have never been so diverse and stimulating. This is thanks to terroir driven producers, like Leclerc Briant, who go to greater depths than any, in the search of quality, and expression,” he said.

Founded in 1872 and originally named Leclerc Estate, Leclerc Briant was expanded in 1955. In the same year the House adopted its new name Leclerc Briant and moved to Epernay where it continues to occupy its original premises on Rue Chaude Ruelle.

Having agreed partnerships in” numerous countries”, including key markets such as the US, Japan, Germany and Italy, finding the right collaboration in the UK had been “a long journey”.

“We cannot wait to harvest the fruits of this new collaboration and finally be able to answer British visitors to Champagne where they can find our wines at home,” said commercial director Pierre Bettinger.

This latest portfolio expansion for FMV follows recent additions from Spain and South Africa.
