Viña Ventisquero re-launches off-trade wine selection

Leading Chilean winery Viña Ventisquero has relaunched its off-trade focused Yali Winemaker Selection wines to fly the green flag for the company's commitment to environmental practices - a cause it has supported since its inception ten years ago.

Yali's Winemaker's Selection 'Wetland' Sauvignon Blanc 2008 and Cabernet Carménère 2007, RRP £5.99, have been repackaged in lightweight bottles (9% weight reduction) and back label information explains their connection to the El Yali Wetland Zone. Situated in the same valley as the company's winery and home to 25% of the different bird species in Chile, the El Yali Wetland Zone is part of the 'National System of Wild Areas Protected by The State' and has been a *RAMSAR site since 1996 - one of just seven in Chile.

The front label carries an artist's depiction of an area of the wetland and shows a bird sitting on a bullrush. A ClimateCare logo on each bottle states that C02 emissions from the transportation of the wine have been off-set: Viña Ventisquero was the first winery in Chile to do this.

The Yali Winemaker's Selection 'Wetland' wines are crafted to be an exact expression of the terroir from which the grapes are sourced. Viña Ventisquero's winemaking team, headed up by Felipe Tosso, is fortunate to be able to choose grapes for this purpose from the company's owned vineyards in some prime sites - Casablanca, coastal Maipo, Apalta and Coastal Lolol in Colchagua Valley.
