Polish premium vodka Torunksa is set to launch in the UK for the first time.
Established in 1884 but little known outside its homeland, the Torunska distillery remains independent, and is being positioned in the UK market as Poland's best kept secret.
The distillery is situated in the medieval city of Torun in northern Poland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.
It uses water drawn from nearby cretaceous-era deposits, which produces what is described as an unadulterated and exceptionally pure vodka.
The vodka is created using a unique rectification process which includes distillation at upwards of 180º and a four-stage filtration.
It is being brought to the UK by entrepreneurs Sunny Claire and Amandeep Mangat, who have acquired the UK distribution and marketing rights from the Torunska distillery.
Claire said: "Vodka is massively on trend this year driven by drinkers' quest for new tastes, flavours and cocktails. Unlike many of the mass-produced brands, Torunska combines history and heritage with outstanding taste.
We've worked with the distillery in Toru? to bring their best vodkas to the UK. We're delighted to be launching the brand at such an exciting time for the category."
The initial focus for the brand is in the on-trade, where it is being rolled out city by city.
Beginning with Birmingham, a team of influential brand ambassadors has been brought on board to experiment with cocktails and work with local high-end on-trade outlets to establish the brand's premium position.
An extensive social media campaign is planned, aimed at reaching and engaging with food and drink-loving millennials, together with a range of events, such as a forthcoming martini-and-film matching evening pairing classic martinis with the 1996 cult favourite Swingers - tagline, "Cocktails first. Questions later." - starring Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn.
Torunska will be available at two strengths in the UK. The 40% abv, which will retail at £30, and Torunska Strong at 50%, which will have a price point of £38.
