Jay Z has bought Champagne brand Armand de Brignac, after making the brand owner an offer they "couldn't refuse".
A spokeswoman for owner Sovereign Brands told Harpers.co.uk she was "not at liberty to disclose the terms of the deal", with even the name of music mogul Jay Z's - real name Shawn Carter - new company being kept under wraps.
Sovereign Brands, owned and operated by New York's Berish family, built the business around the recognisable golden coloured bottles of Armand de Brignac, often referred to as Ace of Spades in the last eight years.
On the Armand de Brignac sale, she added: "Obviously we are very proud of what we've built, which is an iconic, credible, high-end Champagne in less than eight years. We've had a fantastic relationship with Jay Z throughout the years since he first discovered the brand, he became interested in ownership and ultimately made us an offer we couldn't refuse.
Armand de Brignac's reputation was buoyed not only through its links to Jay Z, but to a host of prominent sporting figures, such as Boston Red Sox David Ortiz, who celebrated baseball's World Series win with a 15-litre bottle of the Champagne.
