Bolivia, newcomer to the wine trade, is making its presence felt internationally by taking a stand at next year's ProWein show in Dusseldorf.

Dutch government agency CBI has been working with 14 Bolivian wineries since 2013 with the aim of helping them export to Europe.

The group will be represented at a joint pavilion in Hall 9, which will be shared with other overseas nations including Greece.

Prowein 2015ProWein 2015 will be even bigger than 2014The international wine trade event is bringing a group of newcomers to the trade in from Bolivia, as well as a host of other wineries who wil be exhibiting come March 2015.

ProWein 2015, which takes place from March 15 to 17, will fill nine exhibition halls, with wines and spirits from all continents. The fair is moving into halls 9 to 17 in order to make more space available for next year, which it says is "urgently required". According to organisers Messe Dusseldorf, demand has been rising steadily for years. Over 5,000 exhibitors from 50 countries are expected.

The fair will be broken down into several wine tasting zones, as well as having the usual national pavilions.

Michael Degen, divisional manager of Messe Düsseldorf and director of ProWein said: "The range of different wines and spirits is well-known for its enormous size, with products from all over the world. Next year they will be joined by a newcomer on the international wine scene: Bolivia.

Last year's event saw visitor numbers increase by 7% on 2012 to 48,000, with twice as many Chinese and Hong Kong visitors compared to the previous year.

The 2013 exhibition attracted 4,830 exhibitors from 47 countries, including newcomers such as Japanese wineries showcasing the Koshu grape variety. Organisers said that about a third of 2013 attendees were first-timers, with international wholesale, retail and specialist retail making up the largest group of visitors followed by experts from the restaurant and hotel industry. Over 70% of visitors were from managerial positions.
