VAL D'ORBIEU SHUTS UP SHOP

Published:  23 July, 2008

Groupe Val d'Orbieu, the French company behind Les Vignerons de la Mditerrane, Listel and Cordier, is to close its UK office in a cost-cutting drive. The company is transferring UK operations from Fulham to its French headquarters in Narbonne, but will retain its UK sales force of two - one apiece for the on- and off-trade - who will report directly to the export directors, Vincent Goyat in the Languedoc and David Bolzan in Bordeaux. A company spokesperson said that the changes were part of the implementation of a new structure which puts consumer feedback at the top of its priorities [and] cuts out a layer of management between the directors and the national sales forces'. The company plans to use some of the money saved by the closure of the office to create a fighting fund' to support its brands globally.
