Romanian Winegrowers announces SITT masterclass

Published:  11 September, 2012

Romanian Winegrowers, has announced it will host a masterclass showing a selection of "unique" Romanian wines, at SITT Autumn.

Hosted by Caroline Gilby MW, it will include a selection of indigenous varieties and blends from a selection of regions.

At the event it will also showcase the best of what Romania has to offer across several regions including the Dealu Mare, Banat, Oltenia and Dobrogea.

With exports up threefold to the UK this year, Dan Muntean, managing director at Halewood Romania, said: "The show was a great success for us last year as it attracted a wide variety of online and independent merchants looking for smaller volumes of 'something different', and that's exactly what the Romanian Winegrowers offered.

"We are working hard to increase awareness of Romanian wine in the UK and SITT is a great opportunity for us to do this. This year we are holding a Masterclass to help educate further the great wines Romania has on offer which will include some quality international wines, a number of indigenous grapes as well as international domestic blends."

SITT Autumn takes place on September 24, at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London, WC2N 5BY. The 'Uniquely Romania' Masterclass will take place at 2.15pm - 3pm.

Romanian Winegrowers is made up of a group of the leading wine producers throughout Romania. Members include Halewood Romania, Recas, Stirbey, Vinarte, Serve, Wine Princess, Petro Vaselo and Alcovin.
