The fifth Vinexpo Asia-Pacific, held in Hong Kong, has announced it's final vistors figures as 25% up on last year.

The wine and spirits exhibition held at the end of May registered 15,785 visitors from 24 countries and a record number of Asian buyers.

Trade professionals from Hong Kong accounted for more than one-third of the visitors (39.65%), an increase in attendance of 18.3% compared with 2010.

The substantial rise was due to the fact that buyers from all Asia-Pacific countries attended; China alone sent 5,705 buyers to look for new products.

Vinexpo Asia-Pacific has been held in Asia since 1998. The visitors who attended represented all the business sectors: importers, wholesalers, retailers, sommeliers, and food and beverage managers, as well as buyers from the duty-free, airline and hospitality industries.

Dominique Hériard Dubreuil, chairman of Vinexpo Asia-Pacific, said: "The Asia-Pacific market continues to mature and still brings growth. Vinexpo Asia-Pacific clearly remains the best solution for industry professionals. We believe that Vinexpo will continue to be a key contributor as the market takes off in this region."
