Vinexpo has begun its six-month countdown to its 2013 wine and spirits exhibition, which will take place in Bordeaux from June 16-20.

In 2011 the biennial event saw more than 48,000 visitors from 148 countries attend the five-day exhibition.

Plans for 2013 include the enhancements to two of its most popular features, the Club du Lac and Tastings by Vinexpo. The Club du Lac, the private area overlooking the lake, which is set aside for large corporations' host pavilions, will be larger, while tasting will be bigger and more attractive, with new tasting areas in the Convention Centre and the three exhibition halls.

Vinexpo will also release the results of its worldwide wine and spirit research, commissioned from the International Wine & Spirit Research (IWSR) on February 5, 2013 at a press conference at the Westbury Hotel in London. Vinexpo chairman Xavier de Eizaguirre and chief executive Robert Beynat will co-present the research findings and answer questions at this ticket-only event.

The research covers 28 producer countries and 114 markets where wine and spirits are consumed, and will give atendees a glimpse of the future of the wine and spirits markets and key sectors. The research includes forecasts for production volumes, exports, imports and sales value.

Robert Beynat, chief executive, said: "All these decision makers come to Bordeaux in June to do business. We know from their feedback that a large number of contracts are signed or negotiations begun in the stands in our three exhibition halls. Vinexpo is a great place to pick up the international business buzz, meet colleagues, make new friends, learn how the wine and spirits business is changing around the world, and learn new techniques. Or just get a mind-changing experience. Best of all is the opportunity to do global business in one place."

Vinexpo is reserved exclusively for wine and spirit professionals, and those who do business with them such as the duty-free sector, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and wine merchants, as well as the consumer and drinks trade media.

Vinexpo takes place in Bordeaux from June 16-20, from 8.30am to 6.30pm each day, except on the final day when it closes at 4.30pm.
