Antique Wine Company launches wine academy

Published:  24 August, 2011

The Antique Wine Company has announced the launch of its Marylebone based, AWC Wine Academy.

The academy has been set up in response to its clients desire to extend their wine knowledge and a general growing trend to know more about the subject.

It has appointed wine journalist John Stimpfig as director, and secured a range of highly regarded wine specialists, such as Tim Atkin MW, as well as other respected MWs and experienced wine professionals, as guest tutors.

The first series of courses, Essential Wine Tasting Techniques for Beginners, is led by Tim Atkin and will begin on September 21.

Stephen Williams, managing director, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer such high quality courses that will be run by high calibre tutors, who are current leading experts in the wine field.

The aim of the AWC Wine Academy is to become a central resource for the wine industry, not only teaching those with little or no prior knowledge of wine, but those also working in the industry, who wish to progress and extend their knowledge of the subject.

We would like to offer professional training for example, for the hospitality industry, where there is an inherent need, here and abroad."
