KINGSLAND GOES ORGANIC

Published:  23 July, 2008

Kingsland Wines & Spirits has received Soil Association accreditation and is bottling a new range of organic wines for Tesco. The Manchester-based company, which claims to be the UK's largest independent bottler of wine, sought Soil Association approval in November. The site was inspected and product traceability, anti-contamination and pest control measures were checked. Approval was granted on 26 November. The Kingsland range comprises Australian Organic Chardonnay and a Red, both of which will be bottled under screwcap and will retail at 4.99 in Tesco from May. * Kingsland's Southern Star range of New World wines is now being launched into the on-trade, with a listing at Essex-based Awards Wholesale. The range comprises six single- or dual-varietals: Australian Chardonnay/ Verdelho and Merlot/Petit Verdot; South African Chardonnay/Sauvignon Blanc and Pinotage/ Cinsaut; and Chilean Chardonnay and Merlot. Each will also be available in 25cl bottles.
