Naked Wines offers unsigned Argentinian winemaker £50k order

Naked Wines has teamed up with Wines of Argentina to find the best Argentinian winery, not yet exporting to the UK, to offer them a guaranteed £50,000 order.

At the generic body's annual tasting on September 14, a group of Naked Wines core customers, known as 'archangels' will taste wines, negotiate with winemakers, and put the wine up for sale online immediately.

UK & Europe director for Wines of Argentina Andrew Maidment said: "Not only is this kind of activity undoubtedly good fun, in my view it is actually perhaps the very best way a new winery might currently get the chance to make inroads into the highly competitive UK market.

"Not only can Naked Wines guarantee wineries an order - they can also guarantee them a route to market and interaction with a customer base that is ready and willing to try new things. I don't think there is anyone else in the UK currently opening the door so wide for small, young and exiting wineries from countries such as ours. "

A spokeswoman for Naked Wines said: "A live, crowd-powered tasting is the ideal way for our customers to discover the best Argentina has to offer, and decide exactly where their money's invested.

"We'll be condensing a typically long, drawn-out process into a matter of hours, and the winner will be live on our website and promoted to our base as soon as the order's agreed."
