Two leading Champagne houses have been busy releasing new additions to their portfolios.
Champagne Gosset has launched its Antique range of vintage blends - Grand Blanc de Blancs. The Champagne is a combination of 100% Chardonnay grapes from three vintages - 2003, 2004 and 2005 - and it has a minimum of five years cellar ageing.
"This new blend is the very essence of Champagne: it is a wine bursting with finesse, elegance and freshness," said international director Philippe Manfredini. "Full of complexity and aromas, it demonstrates perfectly the blending skills of our cellar master and is an exceptional cuvée."
Champagne Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs is packaged in a black gift box and will retail for around £69 per bottle. It is distributed exclusively in the UK by McKinley Vintners.
Meanwhile, Lanson International has released the latest vintage of its Noble Cuvée Blanc de Blancs.
The 1999 vintage is made in a non-malolactic style and is aged for a minimum of five years. The blend has been selected from four Grands Cru - Avize, Cramant, Chouilly and Oger.
"The 1999 season was characterized by markedly higher temperatures and slightly higher rainfall than average. The resulting harvest combined very good health in the fruit with excellent maturity," a spokesman said.
It will be available in the on-trade and through independent wine merchants.
