Heavy snowfall affected businesses across the country ? while some saw sales rocket as stranded commuters went to the pub instead of going to work, others faced plummeting sales as their venues were cut off for days at a time.
To add to retailers' woes, the planned 2.5% increase in VAT has kicked in today, adding more paperwork and red tape for busy licensees.
