CODE BREAKERS

Published:  23 July, 2008

The Portman Group has reported a 50% increase in the number of complaints made and upheld in 2002 compared with 2001. Eight were upheld in 2002, from a total of 12 submitted. In the Foreword to the Annual Code Report 2002, chief executive Jean Coussins said: Another welcome change has been the increase in the number of requests we've received for pre-launch advice - over 150 compared with 57 in 2001. We hope the trend continues.' A new version of the Code, which covers sponsorship, websites and advertorials, comes into force in March 2003.
