Published:  14 July, 2010

Independents looking for fresh ideas on how to promote their business are invited to attend the Top Merchants seminar on July 19 at the Bristol Hotel, Bristol.

Run by Harpers Wine & Spirit, with event sponsor Paternina and headline partner GIV, it will include talks from Paul Medder, Wine Intelligence, with key consumer data; Angela Mount, Gondola Wine, on opportunities for independents; Peter Hanna, Matthew Clark's Wine Studio Agency, on ranging; Nick Cordingley, Gondola Wine, on maximising websites; Bryony Wright, Proven Communications, and Dom Lane, Bray Leino, on PR and promotions; Richard Siddle, Harpers Wine & Spirit editor, on working with the media; and Keith Lay, Ehrmanns, on customer loyalty.

Wine columnist Susy Atkins will also run a masterclass entitled "making room for Old World wines in the New World". The interactive tasting session will look at how independents can attract new, younger consumers into their shop with traditional wines, such as Rioja. Don't miss out on this chance to learn how to demystify Old World wines for your 20 to 35 year old customers who might typically gravitate towards the New World offering.
