Independent wine merchant Laithwaites Wine has re-launched its online superstore to improve customer interaction, and celebrate the "new digital decade".

The new online commerce platform powered by ATG (Art Technology Group) aims to be the most user-friendly interactive shopping destination in the wine sector, by providing customers with a straightforward, easy to use experience that includes a 'wine finder', helpful reviews and ratings from other consumers and a highly secure transaction mechanism.

Visitors to the site will now be guided with a step by step guide to select wines based on individual taste preferences and food matching, with the option to explore new regions and countries.

The extensive website redevelopment is the latest in a targeted campaign by Laithwaites to improve customer interaction.

Robert McCarthy, commercial director at Laithwaites Wine said: "With more wine being bought over the internet, investment in a clear online strategy is vital for Laithwaites to respond to the constantly evolving needs of our customers.  The new website, combined with other major marketing initiatives for 2010, reinforces our position as the UK's largest independent wine retailer in the UK".

The campaign also includes the opening of a large flagship store in central London in February.
