Festive sales has seen Virgin Wines  exceeded all expectations in its 12 Days of Christmas campaign.

The online wine retailer has sold more than 10,000 cases - 30% more than forecast via a series of email offers.

Virgin say the culmination of the 12 day promotion and ongoing wine sales has resulted in it achieving its best week ever for sales. The company also broke records with sales over £2m in the week of Monday December 7, which was reported to be the  biggest day in the UK for online shopping.

Managing director of Virgin Wines, Jay Wright said: "We have smashed all our targets on the run up to Christmas. Our 12 days of Christmas Campaign has proved hugely popular and to achieve over £2m of sales in one week is a fantastic achievement.  It's proof that even in challenging economic conditions, businesses can continue to grow and prosper if you have an exceptional team of people and give superb service and value."

Virgin says it is on track to reach sales of £6m in December, 33% up on forecast and on the same month last year.
