Lea & Sandeman has become the sixth member to join the The Bunch group of independent wine merchants.

The Bunch, which champions the cause of the independent trade and individual, grower-made wines, also has Berry Bros, Yapp Brothers, Adnams, Corney & Barrow and Tanners as members.

Chairman of the Bunch, Jason Yapp, said: "They will make a valued addition to our membership and we look forward to liaising closely with them in future.

Activities have included the formulation of a code of practice, the establishment of the  Bunch press tasting and the sharing of interesting bottles and news at lunch and dinners.

Charles Lea said: "Patrick Sandeman and I are delighted to be joining The Bunch - a group of the most established and innovative independent wine merchants in the UK.

"This comes almost exactly on the 21st anniversary of the opening of the first Lea & Sandeman shop in Chelsea, and rounds off a year of awards and a new shop opening in Chiswick for L&S. We both hope that Lea & Sandeman will be able to contribute to the overall mission of The Bunch to convert buyers to interesting wines that have not been dumbed-down, and which are drinkable to the bottom of the bottle."
