Sonoma Select under review

Kenwood, the Sonoma valley winery, is looking for new UK distribution following the apparent failure of the Sonoma Select initiative. Freixenet, which launched the initiative, is believed to have put the initiative "under review". "The UK was a good market for us," said Mark Labelle, of Kenwood. "There was going to be a concerted effort. We were sold on the concept, it sounded great but it does not appear to have worked. We have not heard anything." The Sonoma Select project included Freixenet's Gloria Ferrer, Davis Bynum, Mill Creek and Rodney Strong as well as Kenwood. At the time of going to press, nobody at Freixenet was available to comment.
