San Valentin had been removed from the stores of Norwegian wines monopoly Vinmonopolet after potassium cyanide was found in a bottle of the white wine.

A police investigation has concluded that the poison was introduced into the bottle after its purchase, and man is now in police custody for his possible involvement.

Christian Almstrøm, manager of Torres & Partners Norway, said: "We are very pleased that this popular wine is again available to our customers and that the police investigation has confirmed that the poisoning could not have taken place in the warehouse or during its distribution."
