Published:  23 July, 2008

A group of Swiss wine producers are believed to have mounted a legal challenge to retain the right to call their non-sparkling white wine Champagne'. According to reports, a group of 39 wine growers from the village of Champagne, near Lake Neuchtel, are to take their case to the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. The growers lost the right to call their wine after the name of the village as the result of an agreement reached between the Swiss Government and the EU.
