Lanson Champagne has appointed Phipps PR as its retained PR agency after a two way pitch. The six figure account kicks off before Christmas and will run throughout the whole of 2009.

The programme will initially focus heavily on educating key influencers including wine and food writers, sommeliers and independent retailers, on the taste credentials of the brand and why it is different from other champagne brands on the market.

The campaign will involve tastings, press trips and extensive media relations to communicate Lanson's core benefits.

Phipps senior account director, Lisa Paton, will head up the account and will report into Paul Beavis, managing director of Lanson UK and his marekting team in the UK.

Paton commented: "The PR programme focuses on educating our key influencers in year one and getting them to understand the reasons why Champagne Lanson tastes so different to other brands on the shelf. There's a level of misconception about Champagne Lanson amongst the UK trade which we aim to shatter by letting the wine speak for itself."

Paul Beavis said: "We are very pleased to have Phipps on board for this campaign. It's a really exciting time for Champagne Lanson and we chose Phipps because of their impressive understanding of the wine industry, outstanding contacts and relationships and their passion for working on our business".
