Carlsberg UK is following in the footsteps of Coors and InBev by putting up its wholesale prices.
From October 6 the brewer will raise its prices by an average of 2.3%.
A statement issued by the company said: "The rise in costs of such items as raw materials and utilities has been unprecedented, therefore on this occasion we have been left with no alternative.
"Customer support, brand growth and innovation remain at the heart of our strategy and we will continue with this support during this difficult trading period."
The announcement by Carlsberg follows one by Coors earlier this month which said that it was being forced to raise its wholesale price by 3p a pint. InBev also recently raised its wholesale price by 3%; its second price hike so far this year. Both cited current economic conditions as the reason.
