Bottle Green Ltd has announced that it will represent the wines of Alliance Loire in the UK market with immediate effect.
Alliance Loire, who started out in 2002 with seven co-operatives, now account for approximately 15% of the total Loire wine production and control over 4000 hectares of vineyards across the region. The group consists of nine co-operative producers which represent around 800 winemakers.
"The partnership with Alliance Loire, who bring with them a wide ranging supply base, is another major step in our strategy to build on our strengths in France, Spain and Italy. Alliance Loire has a desire to ensure the future for the members of their co-operatives through the sourcing of outstanding quality wines. With the benefit of Bottle Green's sales, marketing and production strengths we plan a major growth in business over the coming years," said Adam Marshall, Bottle Green's commercial director.
Adds Henry Castillon du Perron, export development manager for Alliance Loire: "Alliance Loire is very proud of having agreed this new collaboration with Bottle Green, because the Loire position is not easy at the moment in the UK. Statistics are showing a decrease in Loire wines when the global wine market is showing the opposite trend. Therefore, it needs strong motivation, optimism, new ideas, dynamism and imagination.
"These keys belong to the profile of Bottle Green and, into the current environmental economy, they will be our main instruments to re-win some market share that our winegrowers are waiting for."
Alongside its own brand 'Vallée Loire', Alliance Loire will produce a number of wines under Bottle Green's French Connection Classics label. The newly extended range will feature the traditional varietals from the region - Muscadet, Saumur Champigny, Saumur Blanc, Saumur Rouge and Haut Poitou Sauvignon Blanc.
