Loire producer, Domaine Baumard, has joined Alliance Wine in a bid to re-establish the distribution and market profile for its Savennières, Côteaux du Layon and Quarts de Chaumes.
The domaine's history dates back to 1634, and in 1987 Florent Baumard joined the family business.
He has retained the desire to respect the vineyard and make wines that are a true, sympathetic reflection of the remarkable soils on which they are grown.
Whilst much at the property remains true to the past, Baumard was amongst the first to embrace the move towards screwcaps and now bottles the majority of its wines with these closures to retain the purity of the carefully harvested fruit.
Giles Cooke, marketing director for Alliance, says: "Rare are the times when a tasting room falls quiet but when we first tasted Florent's utterly stunning Savennieres and the gorgeous Quarts de Chaumes, that is exactly what happened.
"Combined with Florent's engaging, almost boyish enthusiasm and love for the work started by his father, this was a project we just had to take on."
The wines of Domaine Baumard will be presented by Florent Baumard at a series of tastings and dinners across the UK in September.
