PREMIUM PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP

Published:  23 July, 2008

Pacific Wine Partners (PWP), the joint-venture between Australia's BRL Hardy and Constellation Brands of the US, has bought a winery in Sonoma County, California, to increase production of the Blackstone wine brand. The deal to buy the facility, which previously housed the St Francis winery, will be completed by the end of May. This facility will be used predominantly to meet the rapidly increasing demand for wines under the Blackstone brand,' said Jos Fernandez, chief executive officer and president of PWP. It will enhance both the quality and exposure of the brand, providing PWP with a premium crush facility and hospitality site for our Blackstone operations.' PWP owns the Farallon brand from California's Central Coast, which utilises a 24,000-ton winery and 566 hectares of vineyards in Monterey County. PWP is also the US distributor for most BRL Hardy wines. In the UK, BRL Hardy is introducing a 75cl varietal and two new three-litre wine boxes to its VR range. The boxed wines are a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Shiraz (RRP: 14.99 for each), while the 75cl range will now include a Merlot (RRP: 4.49).
