STOLI SUPPLIES DISRUPTED

First Drinks Brands, Stolichnaya's UK distributor, is currently experiencing temporary difficulties' in the supply of 70cl Stolichnaya Red. The Russian Government has attempted to reclaim ownership of Stolichnaya and other vodka brands from Sojuzplodimport (SPI) - to whom it sold the global rights in 1992. SPI has issued a court injunction against the Government, which has now intervened again, this time by withholding stocks awaiting departure. Jon Evans, brand manager at First Drinks, said: This latest move by the Russian Government - which is affecting all international markets - is unfortunate, and we would like to reassure all our customers that we are doing everything we can.' Other Stolichnaya styles - Stolichnaya Blue (50%), Stolichnaya Cristall (40%) and the popular flavours, Stolichnaya Razberi (35%), Ohranj (35%) and Vanil (35%) - are unaffected.
