Single malt sales up 34% at Bruichladdich
Independent Islay-based whisky producer Bruichladdich has reported strong figures for the year ending 2007.
Single malt sales were up 34% while there was a 58% increase in profit before tax up to 831,000.
Mark Reynier, Bruichladdich managing director, said the company was pleased with the results but all profit expenditure would be carefully planned out.
He added: "We are progressive Hebridean distillers where premiumisation, provenance and purity are the driving force behind our success. And we do it all here on the Isle of Islay - from barley to bottle.
"Our profits are entirely reinvested in more whisky stocks and investing in our operations such as Tropos, a 250,000 fully integrated enterprise resource planning system, as we continue to grow."?
Group turnover grew by 28% to 6,864,000 while the new warehouse area increased bottling productivity.
Bruichladdich Distillery reopened in 2001 following several years of closure.
