LOVICO BECOMES EPOCH

Published:  23 July, 2008

Lovico International has changed its name to Epoch Wines Limited. The move was prompted by changes to the LVC Gamza group in Bulgaria, which allowed Lovico International to develop its UK and international business, expanding its wine portfolio from both inside and outside Bulgaria. The company says it plans to take a markedly different trading approach with its wines in the UK. Epoch Wines will no longer be limited to supplying wines from one or two partnership wineries,' said UK commercial director Paul Scaife. We are now free to expand our range by working with the best Bulgarian suppliers, to create exciting new products for all sectors of the wine trade.' Epoch plans to import wines from countries other than Bulgaria and has plans in the pipeline for wine brands from Chile and Spain. A key initiative is its planned Quality Charter', which is aimed at guaranteeing levels of quality and service. It will be implemented through contractual arrangements between Epoch Wines and its suppliers, and supported by a team of operations personnel and oenologists based in Sofia. Epoch's Quality Charter will apply to all Epoch Wines,' said Scaife. It will be developed in partnership with suppliers, with the aim of assuring standards of quality and service in winemaking, samples, technical specifications and logistics.' Epoch Wines says it intends to continue its investment in the promotion of its Images of Bulgaria' campaign. A series of consumer on-pack promotions featuring Bulgarian themes will hit the shelves later this year.
