Blue Nun plans to triple sales in three years

Published:  23 July, 2008

Chali Richards, owners of the Blue Nun wine label, has revealed it plans to triple sales of the brand in the next three years.

The 2008 trade strategy - backed by parent company Halewood International - is based on three perceived key trends; the demand for lower alcohol wines, a move away from Chardonnay in pubs and bars and the need for an alternative FAB in the on trade market.

Andy Bailey, Halewood International head of trade, said: "Blue Nun has fantastic awareness amongst the trade, our job is to target young person venues with single serve options, and introduce Pinot Grigio and Merlot as credible wine list wines for food and socialising occasions."

Blue Nun has been selling in the on trade since October last year and currently sells around 3 million bottles in the off trade arena.

Nick Leonard, sales manager at Chali Richards, said German wine was undergoing a "mini renaissance" in the UK.
