Pernod focus on Creek, Montana and Viejo

Published:  23 July, 2008

Pernod Ricard will focus on three wine brands this year - Jacob's Creek, Montana and Campo Viejo.

In its first quarter results these brands showed 10% growth while the rest of its wine portfolio declined by more than 2%. A spokesman told Harpers Pernod would be focusing on these three brands as part of a "premiumisation" strategy.

Spirit brands have increased sales by 13.4% overall with its wines up 3.3%. Martell (+39%), Jameson (+24%) and Havana Club (22%) were the top perfoming brands. Champagne house Mumm also showed 19% growth on the same period last year.

Its net sales stand at 1,557 million, which represents a 6.9% rise.

It predicts that sales for the full 2007/08 financial year would be 110 million higher if it had not sold off parts of the company including Rich & Rare Canadian whiskey and Seagram Coolers.
