Argentinean wine exports surge ahead

ARGENTINA: Latest export figures show strong growth to UK market

Latest Nielsen figures to the eight weeks up to September 8 for total on-and-off trade shows both volume and value increasing 0.3% and 4.9% respectively.

The average price per bottle is now at 3.74 - ahead of Chile, Wines of Argentina said.

James Forbes, Wines of Argentina UK director, said: "Argentina has been quietly and effectively repositioning itself in the UK in several key areas and particularly that of price.

"For Argentina exports are not about volume at all costs. We want to build a sustainable share of the market based on both value and volume and I can see no reason why this should not be possible.

"The old bugbears have been banished. Argentina is on the front foot now in all matters of quality, style, pricing and logistics and the new found unity and cooperation amongst its producers is driving substantial growth in all export markets across the globe."
