Over-50s are heavy wine drinkers

Over-50s account for over 40% of the UK wine market by value

over-50s are heavy drinkers;

More concerned about alcohol levels in wine;

Spend less per bottle than younger drinkers;

Search for buying in bulk rather than single purchases;

They are more likely to stick to what they know rather than experimenting with new grape varieties and regions;

If captured they are an important brand driver of volumes.

The research into the wine buying motivations and needs of the over-50s will be presented at the London International Wine and Spirit Fair (LIWSF).

The seminar takes place in the Seminar Theatre on Wednesday May 23 at 9.30 a.m.
