New MD for Burns Stewart

Fraser Thornton has been named managing director of Glasgow-based distillers Burn Stewart. He has held a variety of commercial positions within the company since joining in 1996. He takes responsibility for the development of the company, which owns brands including Black Bottle and Bunnahabhain.

Inver House reshuffle

Aidrie-based Inver House, which owns five distilleries, has appointed four new distillery managers. Derek Sinclair has moved from Balblair distillery to oversee the reorganisation as group distilleries manager. His replacement will be John MacDonald, formerly of Glenmorangie. Malcolm Waring, manager at Knockdhu, moves to Pulteney distillery, with Gordon Bruce stepping in at Knockdhu. Fred Sinclair takes the Balmenach distillery manager's post.

Byrne steps in at Drinkaware

Kevin Byrne has been appointed interim chief executive at the Drinkaware trust. Matthew Hill was due to take the position but was called back by the Department of Culture Media and Sport. Byrne was at the DCMS and the DTI before taking up the post.

Evans Brussels-bound

The European Spirits Organisation (CEPS), the body representing EU spirits producers, has elected Campbell Evans as a vice president. Evans is currently director of Government & Consumer Affairs at the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA). CEPS aims to promote responsible alcohol consumption and secure fair-trading conditions within the EU and internationally.

New role at Guy Anderson

Simon Bradbury of WaverleyTBS will be joining Guy Anderson Wines in January in the newly created role of director of sales for Italy. He will be responsible for the growth of Italian sales in the UK off-trade.

Craft logistics-bound

Charles Craft has moved to wine logistics company Octavian from Office World, as operations director. Prior to this, he spent 17 years with Marks & Spencer, managing its logistics department.

Treasury targets on-trade

London-based importer The Wine Treasury has appointed Arthur Campbell from Oddbins wholesale to develop its on-trade sales.

All change at BBFB

Bruce Ray has moved from his position as director of trade marketing at Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands (BBFB) to become director of UK external affairs. Gary Squire, director of on-trade sales, replaces him.

Food and drink for Morrison

Having spent several years in the food industry with Unilever and Dr Oetker, Jason Morrison returns to the drinks business as national account manager for Buckingham Vintners. In the 1990s he worked for Grants of St James's.
