Architect Gehry designs new Wyborowa bottle

Published:  23 July, 2008

Pernod Ricard has released two additions to its spirits range. The first, Wyborowa Exquisite, features a bottle designed by architect Frank Gehry, who, apart from being of Polish descent, designed the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, and also the Marqus de Riscal winery in Rioja.

The new vodka is made from a single variety of rye, Dankowskie Zlote Zyto ('golden rye' in Polish), grown around the village of Turew near Poznan in western Poland.

Pernod Ricard describes the vodka as having 'a very soft and supple entry', leading to 'a smooth, oily medium'. The word 'wyborowa' means 'exquisite' in Polish.

Meanwhile, the company has launched an extension to the Martell range. Noblige, which carries no age statement but would be equivalent to a VSOP, follows the Martell tradition by using a high percentage of Borderies grapes, and is aged in new Tronais barrels.

Pernod Ricard says that Noblige can be drunk neat or mixed. It has an RRP of 26.99.

Chris Seale, Pernod Ricard's head of Champagnes and Cognac, said: 'Noblige is a bold new offering for the UK and we are confident that it will appeal to charismatic and independently minded people who want to experience something unique.'
