Laurent-Perrier results

Published:  23 July, 2008

The decision to focus on top-of-the-market wines and increase its prices is paying off for Laurent-Perrier. The Champagne group enjoyed strong growth in the 12 months to 31 March, with operating profits up 21% to 41.3 million, and group net profit 38% ahead to 22.5 million.

The strong impact of improved margins is shown by the fact that turnover rose by just 9% to 208.7 million.

Laurent-Perrier's good yearly results are also partly due to strong worldwide demand for Champagne. During the 2005 calendar year, the volume of Champagne exported by the group rose by 5%, bringing total sales to 307 million bottles (up 2%). Demand for Laurent-Perrier's biggest brands - Salon, Delamotte, de Castelane and Laurent Perrier itself - outperformed the market, with particularly strong sales in Belgium and the UK, their two most important markets.
