Vinos launches Viniterra

Published:  23 July, 2008

Argentinian producer Viniterra is entering the UK for the first time after signing an agency deal with the recently launched importer Vinos Wines.

Based in the Lujan de Cuyo region of Mendoza, Viniterra produces around 3.5 million litres a year and is launching five separate ranges onto the UK market.

The core Viniterra' range consists of six varietal wines, including a Carmenre, Malbec and Pinot Grigio.

It is expected to sell in the UK for around 5 to 6. Viniterra produces two other ranges of varietal wines: Perra Momento II and Omnium, with the wines positioned between 6 and 10.

Viniterra also produces a four-strong sparkling range (including a sparkling Malbec), a super-premium red blend, Lubileus (Malbec/Merlot/Syrah) and a sweet wine, Dolcissimo.

Vinos Wines is a US-based wine company that has hired two sales staff to represent it in the UK. The UK side of the business is being run by Nicholas Humes, who said: We are currently talking to a number of independent retailers and cash and carries to stock the range, and will start a promotional campaign to consumers this summer.'
