MONTANA SWITCHES TO WAVERLEY

Published:  23 July, 2008

vindication of our strategy

Montana has appointed Waverley Wines & Spirits as its UK distributor from 1 September. As the battle rages Down Under for ownership of the leading New Zealand wine brand, and the regulatory authorities continue to mull over the break-up of the Seagram drinks business by Diageo and Pernod Ricard, Montana itself has decided to move distribution from Seagram UK after 20 years. Loraine McKinnon, European manager for Montana, said: "In light of the impending sale of Seagram, we would like to thank all our colleagues at Seagram UK for all their support, enthusiasm and professionalism." Montana will continue to be responsible for all sales and marketing to its key accounts. Waverley will be Montana's exclusive on-trade distributor in the UK and will take responsibility for sales to independent retailers. It will also handle Montana's warehousing, distribution and administration. Waverley's group marketing director Hew Dalrymple said: "Montana's decision to give us all its UK distribution is a vindication of our strategy of recent investment in logistics infrastructure, particularly our state-of-the-art warehouse facilities at Hemel Hempstead."
