Brown-Forman ready to show first Distell range

Published:  23 July, 2008

Brown-Forman will be showing a range of Durbanville Hills wines at the Wines of South Africa Mega Tasting next month, the first since it became UK (and US) agents for Cape producer Distell.

The range includes a Sauvignon Blanc, a Merlot, a Pinotage and a Shiraz, and has recently had new packaging designed based on consumer research last year.

A spokeswoman for Brown-Forman said that its aim was for Durbanville Hills to become a 'benchmark premium-quality South African brand in the 5-8 bracket'.

Durbanville Hills winemaker Martin Moore will be at the Mega Tasting, which takes place on 11-12 October in London.

Kate Sweet, Brown-Forman's PR manager, is to leave the company after eight years. She has worked in a number of roles, including customer services and shipping.

Sweet will now work as a 'freelance communications specialist in wine' (with a new company, Sweet!), and also hopes to develop other interests, which include flower arranging.

Sweet told Harpers: 'Brown-Forman has been a pleasure to work for, which is why I have stayed as long as I have. The people I work with, like David Cox, have become friends, and to leave has been a hard decision to make.'

She can be contacted at kate.sweet@btinternet.com or by phone on 07939 582151.
