Hallgarten & Novum Wines has signed a deal as the exclusive UK distributor for Marlborough’s Lake Chalice Wines across the on and off-trade, marking the brand’s UK debut.
Taking place with immediate effect, the deal includes Hallgarten taking on 10 wines from the family-owned winery, doubling its Marlborough portfolio in the process.
The move was in response to a “relentless” demand for Marlborough wines, said portfolio director Jim Wilson.
“We felt now was the perfect time to increase our offering from the region by introducing these wines. From the vineyard to the office, Lake Chalice Wines comprises a family of professionals who share an equally deep seeded love of Marlborough and all things wine,” he said.
The Lake Chalice wines taken on by Hallgarten comprises three separate labels – The Nest, which represents classic Marlborough expressions from a collection of unique sub-regions at an affordable price; The Falcon – the mainstay and signature of the Lake Chalice portfolio expressing signature flavours across a wide range of grapes and The Raptor which consists of small parcels of unique fruit that stands out as “excellent or superior’.
Lake Chalice Wines brand manager, Ben Leggett, said: “For a wine brand which has been enjoyed by Kiwis for almost three decades, we’re excited to be able to work with Hallgarten to bring our own little piece of Marlborough to the UK.”
Lake Chalice Wines joins an already strong New Zealand portfolio at Hallgarten, which includes Marlborough’s Saint Clair and Central Otago’s Rockburn.
