Cellar Trends wins global health & safety standard

Published:  01 February, 2018

Cellar Trends has been certified by a global consumer protection agency for meeting a set of stringent quality, safety and traceability standards.

The independent business is one of the first alcoholic drinks distributors in the country to receive the BRC Global Standard for Agents & Brokers.

The award recognises effective hazard & risk assessment, product quality & safety management and proper scrutiny of sub-contractors and suppliers from an organisation’s senior management down to floor staff.

Cellar Trends director John Marriot said the award followed nine months of work to ensure the company’s operations would meet BRC Global Standards’ requirements.

“I am delighted with the news that Cellar Trends is one of the first independent distributors to have met these stringent targets,” he added. “The certificate illustrates our high standards. We’re proud of our achievement. We’re looking forward to a successful 2018.”

Founded in 1999, Cellar Trends’ portfolio includes a host of well-known wines, spirits and beers, including London No 1 Gin, Pusser’s Rum and Faustino Cava. Recent wins include deals to distribute Chang Beer, the liqueur Italicus and Stolichnaya Vodka. In 2017, Baltic drinks manufacturer & distributor Amber Beverage Group took a stake in the company.

BRC Global Standards is a brand and consumer protection organisation used by more than 26,000 companies in more than 130 countries. Formerly a division of the British Retail Consortium, the company was acquired by international life sciences measurement & testing company LGC in November, 2016.

At the time of the acquisition, LGC said its investment would fuel international growth for BRC Global Standards over the following five years and the development of its IT capabilities.
