Bottega dabbles in Vermouth

Published:  16 October, 2017

Italian prosecco producer Bottega has launched into the Vermouth market with the launch of Vermouth Bianco Bottega and Vermouth Rosso Bottega.

The vermouths use wines obtained from grapes that are typical of the region where Bottega is based in north-east of Italy. Pinot Grigio is used for Vermouth Bianco Bottega and Merlot is used for Vermouth Rosso Bottega, while the recipes mix in over 30 botanicals.

The Vermouth Bianco Bottega recipe includes elderberry, wormwood, cinnamon Ceylon, nutmeg, greater galangal and bitter orange peels.

Vermouth Rosso Bottega includes garden angelica, peels of sweet and bitter orange, roman and alpine wormwood, basil leaves, coriander seeds, marjoram, oregano, sage and Radicchio di Treviso.

Vermouth Bottega should be consumed chilled (7-8° C), straight, on the rocks or garnished with a lemon peel.

Bottega is a third generation business, today led by Barbara, Sandro, and Stefano Bottega. The group also runs a winery in Valpolicella and one in Montalcino.

The company manages several different brands, including Alexander, Bottega and Cantina dei Poeti.
