The Botanist openings boost New World Trading Company

Published:  06 October, 2017

The New World Trading Company (NWTC), has reported soaring sales boosted by ‘successful’ new openings under its The Botanist brand.

In the year to 31 March 2017, sales increased 33% to £40.1 million, with adjusted operating profits up 41% to £5.1m (internal accounts).

Growth had been driven by a “significant” expansion programme for NWTC’s The Botanist chain, which added three new pubs to its portfolio during the year with an additional three having opened since the year end, said the business.

In addition, NWTC opened a new pub under its The Canal House brand and recently announced the launch of a new The Florist brand, which is poised to open its doors in Bristol in spring next year.

Having “successfully” completed its management buyout in June 2016 - backed by UK private equity specialist Graphite Capital, the year had been “an exceptional one” for NWTC, which also owns The Oast House, The Smugglers Cove, The Trading House and The Club House, said CEO, Chris Hill.

“We have made significant progress laying the foundations for our future growth and we look forward to a number of exciting new openings in the coming year,” he said, adding its brands kept evolving successfully due the “unique nature of our offer, with each new site tailored to suit its local market”.

NWTC was placed in 10th position in The Times Top 100 Companies 2017 and won four awards at the National Pub and Bar Awards 2017, with The Botanist in Sheffield named the best pub in the UK.
