Bronco launches budget Napa Valley wine

Published:  23 July, 2008

Bronco Wine Company - famous for producing Two Buck Chuck' - is launching a $3.99 Napa Valley range.

Bronco's co-owner Fred Franzia said the range, which will initially include a Merlot and a Chardonnay, will be sold exclusively through Trader Joe's stores.

Bronco recently lost a long-running court battle with Napa Valley vintners regarding its use of brand names that include the word Napa despite the wines not being made from Napa Valley grapes.

Wine industry consultant Vic Motto said that he doubted Bronco would make any money from the brand: [Franzia] has been dealt a major blow and this is a face-saving measure. He can afford to underwrite this.'
